DESCRIPTION:

Apex is seeking a Remote Operations Control Center (ROCC) Operator to play a key role in delivering safe and optimal operations of wind and solar power generation assets.  The ROCC Operator will perform remote wind turbine resets, monitor performance, run remote diagnostics, and take regulatory actions, such as voltage control changes and curtailment actions.  The ROCC is a 24/7 operation.  This position is a rotating shift assignment that requires nighttime, weekend, and holiday work.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Continuously monitor operation of wind facilities to ensure compliance with safe operations, electrical system procedures, regulatory requirements, power sales requirements, dispatch instructions, contractual obligations, and business unit objectives
  • Notify management and/or stakeholders of abnormal conditions
  • Work closely with on-site operations to maximize project availability and production
  • Schedule production with power purchasers, power marketers, and system operators
  • Build and maintain relationships with primary stakeholders
  • Start, stop, and dispatch wind facilities to meet planned schedules and regulatory dispatches
  • Perform diagnostic analysis of operating data to assess operating performance and identify abnormal performance conditions
  • Complete PJM, NERC and/or other certifications within the required time frame upon notice such certifications are necessary

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (degree in business, engineering, or related field preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Professional appearance and manner
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Exemplary standards of honor, ethics, safety, quality, communication, and productivity
  • Ability to work proactively and productively with limited supervision
  • Ability and willingness to respond to plant operational needs on a 24/7 basis as needed
  • Proficiency with wind farm SCADA systems preferred
  • Experience with InStep or OSISoft’s Process Book and Datalink preferred
  • PJM and/or NERC certifications preferred
  • Ability to work in Charlottesville, Virginia
  • Ability to work on a rotating shift basis including nights, weekends, and holidays

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Base, bonus and equity compensation commensurate with experience
