United Technologies Research Center (UTRC) is seeking an Electrician to work 1st shift and provide technical support to facility operations and research projects.
Responsibilities include a combination of the following:
-Technical Support – facility operations and research projects.
-Working and troubleshooting knowledge of: 120/240/277/480/11,000 volt 1ph and 3ph
AC distribution, controls and equipment; low voltage fire and smoke alarm systems; lighting controls and systems.
-Working and troubleshooting knowledge of low voltage DC controls and circuits.
- Lifting objects and equipment up to 40 pounds from ground to chest level and placing them on shelves on a regular basis, either with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Must already possess State of Connecticut E2 Electrical License or higher to qualify for this position.
A Technical/Business School Certificate or Diploma, Skilled Trades Apprenticeship, or other post high school training (two years duration) with minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required
-Under minimal supervision, performs varied and moderately complex tasks
-Applies semi-advanced skills to perform functions of the position within assigned
-May adapt new procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet the

The core hours for this 1st shift position are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
Employee must be able to pass a medical examination to ensure that he/she is able to wear a dust mask while working (as needed).
Because this position requires access to all parts of the Research Center, US Citizen or US Permanent Resident status is required.
Adaptability is key to this position, along with the ability to think on your feet, problem solve and respond to emergency situations.
Must comply with the EH&S Policy and applicable regulatory and company EH&S rules
-Must report to supervision conditions or practices that are either unsafe or that
may adversely impact the environment, to ensure prompt resolution of potential
-Must attend scheduled EH&S training program
-Must actively support the organization¿s efforts to meet or exceed EH&S goals and
-Must be able to work overtime on occasion, as required
-Recommend improved EH&S practices as appropriate
